The End Is Near – Review Your Medicare Plan Options by December 7
The annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period ends December 7. If you are on Medicare, it’s important that you review your plan options each year to:
- Save money
- Get the benefits you want
- Verify your health care providers are in the plan’s network
- Get the medications you need
Unfortunately, only about 30% of people on Medicare review their plans to see if they need to make a change. If you don’t, it could lead to some unwelcome surprises for you in January. You could discover that your health care providers are no longer in the plan’s network, or that the cost of your premium or medication has gone up, or that some of the benefits you enjoy are no longer available.
People often take the time to compare the prices of things they plan to purchase, like Christmas presents or groceries, but then fail to compare the cost and value one of the most expensive things in their budget, their health insurance. Don’t miss the opportunity to make sure your current coverage is your best option for you for the coming year.
If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan on January 1 of 2022, you will get a second chance to change plans from January 1 to March 31. During this period, you can change to another Medicare Advantage Plan or return to Original Medicare.
