Age-Friendly Communities promote features that foster healthy and successful aging across the lifespan. Learn about how Age-Friendly Communities enhance the quality of life of all community members and creates places where Minnesotans increasingly want to live, work, and play.

More than 68 million Americans are over the age of 60, and that number is projected to grow each year. It makes sense for those of us serving older adults to explore our beliefs about aging and gain insight as to the challenges that come with aging. Increased awareness of the changes associated with aging through vision, hearing and impaired manual dexterity simulation will help you be more empathetic, understanding, and patient. This presentation can be tailored to be a hands-on experiential learning process that is both informative and fun.

Caregiver Consultants offer one-on-one, person-centered coaching and support to address the unique needs of each caregiver. Consultants increase caregiver’s competencies and skillsets so that they become stronger, more resilient, and confident in providing care.

Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. By helping everyone in a community understand what dementia is and how it affects people, each of us can make a difference for people who are touched by dementia.

As a Dementia Friends Champion, you can facilitate one-hour Dementia Friends sessions with friends, family, colleagues, and the wider community. Being a Dementia Friends Champion is a rewarding role that involves educating others, promoting awareness, and actively participating in creating dementia-friendly communities. If you’re interested in making a positive impact, consider becoming a Champion today!

This interactive session offers an opportunity to understand the value of caregiving, discuss the benefits and challenges of caregiving and receive information on resources available to Minnesota residents. Knowledge about resources and supports are critical in enabling people to remain healthy and safe at home.

This training prepares organizations with the knowledge they need to utilize the Rapid Screen Assessment Tool. Upon completion of the Rapid Screen the older adult will know their risk category and have a list of up to seven identified, evidence-based risk factors. The intent of the Rapid Screen training is to enable the older adults we serve to live safely at home as long as possible.
